Welcome to the Department of Animal Nutrition, Genetics and Breeding. The department of Animal Nutrition, Genetics, and Breeding is one of the full-fledged departments from the beginning of the establishment of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, 2011. This department comprises with two major disciplines of livestock production; one is “Animal Nutrition” and another is “Genetics and Breeding”. The courses offered from the department are related with production, processing, and technology. Along with teaching activities of under-graduates for the B. Sc. Vet. Sci & A.H. degree; the department also engaged with research, consultancy, extension, and other extracurricular activities. Research activities are funded by SAURES, UGC, MOST, and other national and international organizations. Our research programs advance our understanding of animal biology and address local and global issues facing animal industries today. The objective of the discipline Animal Nutrition is to conduct both basic and applied course in the area of Animal Nutrition, Feed Science and Technology. To full fill the aim of Genetics and Breeding discipline the course are designed with fundamental and applied knowledge of Animal Genetics, Animal Breeding, Molecular Genetics, Reproductive Biotechnology and Artificial Insemination. The department is committed to provide a quality education, a need- based research program for producing animal nutritionist and animal biotechnologists for local and global job market.

History

In 1938, Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq envisioned a new era of agricultural education to empower students with knowledge and innovation for sustainable farming. This vision gave birth to Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, a center of excellence in agricultural development.
