Welcome to the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding which is one of the leading departments in the university. We offer both undergraduate and postgraduate courses from our department. Our faculty members are dedicated to research and teaching focusing on Genetics, Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics and Plant Breeding to improve the agricultural crops. Our Vision is to produce high quality graduates and develop new improved crop varieties with increased crop yield and wider adaptability to the changing climate.
In 1938, Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq envisioned a new era of agricultural education to empower students with knowledge and innovation for sustainable farming. This vision gave birth to Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, a center of excellence in agricultural development.
