Department of Microbiology & Parasitology, one of the most prominent departments of the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University under the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, set out its journey in the year of 2012, with the mission to empower dedicated research and provide superior education to develop top scientists, researchers and experts in the field of Microbiology & Parasitology. Microbiology and Parasitology are two distinct disciplines under this department are committed to generating, disseminating, and preserving knowledge and are dedicated to provide students an education that combines rigorous academic study along with the excitement of discovery. Our main goal is to understand the basic & molecular biology of Microbes & parasites that causes diseases in livestock, poultry, zoo & lab animals, as this knowledge is critical in identifying and developing new techniques and vaccines for effective prevention & control.
In 1938, Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq envisioned a new era of agricultural education to empower students with knowledge and innovation for sustainable farming. This vision gave birth to Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, a center of excellence in agricultural development.
