Md. Razzab Ali, PhD is currently working as Professor (Grade 1) and Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka; former Chairman of the Department of Entomology and Associate Director (Research), Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. He joined first in his job as Lecturer on January 30, 1995.

He holds PhD Degree from the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur, Bangladesh. He secured first divisions/classes in all public examinations from the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) through Master of Science in Entomology, and received a number of scholarships and recognition for his academic excellence such as the Prime Minister’s Scholarship for PhD program (2004-2007) from Prime Minister’s Fund for Higher Studies and Researches, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Bangladesh and Research Assistantship for MS program (1998-1999) from Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Bangladesh. Dr. Ali subsequently pursued overseas training on ‘Quality Assurance and Accreditation” organized by World Bank and University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project held at HELP University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Professor Ali’s career reflects a rich blend of academic and agriculture research experiences gained in Bangladesh. Besides serving as Agriculture Specialist of FAO and Word Bangladesh. He also gained research experiences on Pest Risk Analysis of Various Fruits, Vegetables and Cereals Crops in Bangladesh: holding positions Team Leader cum Entomologists under Department of Agriculture Extension under Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh as well as Bangladesh Trade Facilitation Project under USDA. On the academic and research side, he held such positions as Distinguished Visiting Professor, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), International University of Business, Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). He has also extensively consulted for such organizations as the World Bank, Food and Agricultural Organizations (FAO) and Government of Bangladesh.

Dr. Ali has published a number of research articles (more than 25) and reports on scientific studies (more than 15) on such broad fields of agriculture sciences. He also published a text book titled on “Bio-ecology, host preference and management of whitefly on mungbean in Bangladesh” by LAB LAMBERT Academic Publishing GmbH & Co. KG, Germany in 2012 (ISBN: 978-3-8473-4642-5). Dr. Ali also supervised and co-supervised a number of PhD (14) and MS (100) students.

He regularly contributes to high panel government committees and boards, and acts as resource person, trainer and/or academic adviser such as Subject Matter Specialist to the Pesticide Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) under Plant Protection Wing of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Ministry of Agriculture; Educational Quality Assurance (QA) Expert of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. He has made substantial contribution as Quality Assurance Experts to several public and private universities under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) and public and private colleges under College Education Development Project (CEDP), Ministry of Education, Bangladesh.

He is additionally working as Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka since 05 September 2024. His responsibility is to oversee the administration of the IQAC and responsible for all of its activities; function as the chief liaison officer between the university and the QAU under Bangladesh University Grants Commission; coordinate, supervise and monitor all Quality Assurance (QA) related activities of the IQAC within the university; organize training and workshop programs for IQAC staff and faculty members of the university on QA mechanism and culture within the university; guide and supervise the IQAC staffers’ work for satisfactory performance and execution of assigned tasks for QA.
