Assistant Professor
Department of Anatomy, Histology and Physiology
Sujan Kumar Sarkar has been serving as a Faculty Member in the Department of Anatomy, Histology, and Physiology (ANHP) since 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.Sc. Vet Sci. & A.H.) from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka. In 2017, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Avian Diseases from École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort (National Veterinary School of France), conducted at SAU, Dhaka. He was recognized among the top three performers and received an award of honor for academic excellence. Sarkar has extensive clinical experience in companion animal practice, including clinical restraint, diagnosis, treatment, and disease management. His work with a wide variety of clinical cases has enhanced his practical knowledge of veterinary care. He also holds a Master’s degree in Veterinary Anatomy. His postgraduate research focused on the effects of plant extracts in a diabetic rat model, reflecting his interest in translational research using rodent models. His broader research interests include animal health improvement and the study of human diseases through preclinical models. Through his academic and teaching experience, particularly in the anatomy, histology, and physiology of the nervous system, he has developed a strong interest in neurodegenerative disorders. His research focuses on leveraging murine models to explore the intersection between veterinary science and human medicine. Sarkar is currently on study leave while pursuing his PhD.
