Hoomayra Yasmin is a lecturer at the Aquatic Environment and Resource Management department at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. She is a dedicated academic and researcher in fisheries biology and aquatic environment from Bangladesh. She was born in Pabna, and she has built a strong academic and professional career in fisheries science. She completed her BS in Fisheries (2010-2014) and MS in Fisheries Biology and Aquatic Environment (2014-2016) from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, securing top positions.

Previously, she worked as a Sector Specialist (Fisheries) at BRAC Bangladesh. She has published research on aquaculture in pond environments and waterlogged areas of Bangladesh with aquaponic culture systems, nutrient changes in tidal mangroves, pond fish farming, and integrated fish-vegetable culture. Hoomayra has also completed specialized training programs in aquaculture and pesticide management and presented her research at the 23rd Science Conference of BAAS. A life member of BAAS and a recipient of a graduate merit stipend. Her work in research, teaching, and training significantly contributes to sustainable fisheries management and improved livelihoods for local communities.

She has a keen interest in limnology, focusing on freshwater ecosystems, water quality, and aquatic biodiversity in the river system of Bangladesh. She feels interested in work on GIS for establishing Precision Fisheries in Bangladesh. Visit her on SAU website
