I am Dr. Maksuda Mannaf, an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics. I recently joined this university after several years of teaching and research at Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet. My academic journey has been deeply shaped by my passion for understanding the complex interactions between economic systems and the environment, and I am excited to continue pursuing this work here while engaging with my new students and colleagues. I completed my PhD in Environmental and Resource Economics at University of Adelaide, Australia where I focused on the spatial influences of natural capital (certified organic farming as a case study for sustainable resource management) in agricultural landscape. This research continues to drive my teaching and academic interests as I explore ways to integrate economic theory with practical solutions for addressing global environmental challenges. In my classes, I strive to make complex economic concepts accessible and relevant, encouraging students to critically evaluate the role of economics in shaping environmental policies and resource management strategies. I am passionate about fostering a collaborative learning environment where students can explore both the theoretical frameworks and real-world applications of environmental economics. Alongside my teaching, I have published several articles in leading journals, including Environmental Management and Ecological Economics. My research focuses on spatial econometrics, organic farming, natural resource management, climate change, food security, and biodiversity. I am also deeply committed to mentoring graduate students, guiding them through the challenges of research and helping them develop the skills they need to succeed in both academia and industry. As a member of the university’s academic committees, I work to ensure that our curriculum reflects the most current and impactful developments in the field of agricultural economics. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy reading, attending sustainability-focused events, and participating in community initiatives that promote environmental awareness and responsible resource management.
